Description of our model and application areas

This congenic strain is frequently used in transplantation studies due to its distinctive pan leukocyte marker Ptprca, commonly known as CD45.1 or Ly5.1. This contrasts with other inbred strains such as C57BL or BALB/c that express the Ptprc^b (CD45.2 or Ly5.2) allele.

The creation of this model involved speed backcrossing of the Ptprc^a and linked Pepc^b alleles from SJL/LRj onto a C57BL/6JRj background.
